Labor Day weekend. The last hurrah of the summer and a prequel to the upcoming Holiday season. Many Americans have planned getaways, barbecues or simply a nice long weekend. Having worked countless years on Labor Day, it never really meant a whole lot to me, other than extra business. I recently revisited the history of the holiday and found it interesting how we can easily forget the origins and meaning of holidays we celebrate without really knowing why we actually celebrate. The link below reminds us there is something amazingly patriotic about the quintessential American worker. As a tribute to each other, let's encourage each other to pay it forward this weekend, find your own special way and post it. Happy Labor Day!
Freedom of Religious Beliefs or playing God? This was an interesting article. But what is a right choice or a bad choice? Does it not depend on your own views? Some say she is making a good choice because she is standing up for what her religious beliefs; others say she is disobeying the law so therefore it is a bad choice. Is she playing God by judging who she will or will not marry or simply exercising her freedom? What is right for one may not always be right for another. What is your view?
A word to consider. Regardless of your religious views, one thing we all could use in this world today is hope. It's still there, it may be hidden and hard to see, but it is there. It's amazing when we come upon a glimmer of hope and cling to it, as Americans, we can't lose that perspective, sometimes it's all we have. Our country faces countless hurdles, it may seem insurmountable; but as Americans we know better. Don't know where to start? Neither do the rest of us, but let's just begin and see where it takes us.
